Karney was a deputy to Sheriff John Roland a.k.a. "Big" John Roland, at a very rural town that had made a side deal with the Visitors. He is a coward who roughs up people for fun, but when Mike Donovan arrives to fight back, Karney heads back. He turns Donovan into the Visitors, who come to claim him, but the Resistance fight them off.
